Catie Bainbridge

Catie Bainbridge (she/her) is a white settler with British, Irish, and French ancestry and has been an uninvited guest on lək̓ʷəŋən territory for nearly three decades. She is a storytelling, bone collecting, cloud watching, mud splashing child-at-heart who loves to play and dream outside. She holds great reverence and respect for the magic in nature and the gift of belonging that comes with being in reciprocity with the land.

Catie’s career evolved from working in addictions and mental wellness in 2018 when she had her first experience working with young learners at a bioregional forest school rooted in the land at PKOLS. Since then, Catie has had the honour to work alongside children as an educator, co-learner, and co-creator with the support and teachings from a number of human and non-human mentors.

Catie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, a Bachelor of Arts in Gender Studies and Film Studies, and a post-degree diploma in Interprofessional Addictions and Mental Health. Integral to her teaching practice are place-conscious, inquiry-based learning models with an emphasis on identity, indigenous principles, and anti-racist pedagogy.

In her spare time, Catie loves exploring, camping, and hiking with her dog Newt, dancing, crafting, and building new connections with all the beings she meets along the way.
